Concept:
A freestyle Cypher by Hype & Fever, J. Sinclair and RFN. As the 4 artists live together they recorded this Cypher in their attic during the Corona Virus Lockdown.

Execution:
Due to the lockdown I had to direct and produce this video mobile using only equipment they had available in their house. Luckily they had a number of smartphones with very good cameras so I setup a FaceTime call with the artists and had them place their phones in the exact position I want them to film the cypher in. I had them set up 2 shots, facing the subject from the front and from the side as well as having them film an extra take in a close up handheld camera fashion on each artist as they perform. This included shots of the DJ mixing the tracks.
I then edited the video in post production. As the cypher was recorded in a number of takes and the audio edited in post, I had to carefully choose which takes to use in order to make the video edit look and feel as natural as the final audio edit.
I also added animations where the shot would zoom in and out in time with the beat as well as colour/grading all footage and adding a black and white effect to the close up shots. This effect works well in separating the close up moving shots from the wider still shots and helps improve the visual appeal.

Result:
The finished project looks professionally made considering there is no equipment used except mobile phone cameras and has been highly commended by the artists.
