ABOUT

CONCEPT
The GoTyme app was born out of the growing need to make banking more accessible, a part of everyday life that the average customer can make the most of and enjoy. In a developing yet still largely unbanked market like the Philippines, there is a growing demand for technology that helps people understand and make use of financial products. The GoTyme app was designed to be just that—a user-centric mobile companion that makes banking easy, simple, and fun for everyone.

PURPOSEFUL DESIGN
Crafted to embody our vision, the app’s user interface consists of fully customized design components and content that comply with the global accessibility standards. Components were created using a token-based design system, ensuring consistency in meeting all relevant World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) guidelines.

Motion was treated as a tool to make every interaction more meaningful, not just as an accessory, from showing real-time transaction progress to highlighting financial milestones. Vector pictograms were animated in Lottie, elevating customer experience without compromising the app’s size and performance. Along with haptics, animation was also used to make feedback more easily perceptible, bringing more clarity to the way we communicate the outcome of every money decision users make on the app.

BEST PRACTICES AND UX RESEARCH
In mapping out and designing each user journey, we looked at three things: design trends (both in the global and local markets), usability heuristics, and user research. We started by adopting design patterns that had been proven effective and eventually improved promising ones through heuristic evaluation. The app’s information architecture was determined, and is constantly being refined, through card sorting exercises. User interviews and moderated usability testing are conducted before the rollout of new products and features, further grounding our user flows on the mental models and behaviors of our customers.

The result is an overall banking experience that is perfectly in sync with people’s needs and expectations: discoverable functionalities, messages delivered using our customers’ language, processes broken down to their simplest forms, guidance and support right when they’re needed the most.

A BANK ON THE RISE
With almost half a million users in less than a year after its public launch, the GoTyme app now boasts of all the core banking features of its competitors and more: a game-changing and award-winning customer onboarding and card-printing system, a gamified savings account with one of the best interest rates in the market, integration with one of the country’s top customer loyalty program, and partnerships with the most popular local retail networks.

We’ve already come a long way, yet we’re just getting started. With the exciting new products and research-driven app improvements in our roadmap, we’re all set to be a part of more people’s lives, bring finance to those who still don’t have access to it, and help the Philippines—and soon, the rest of the world—see banking in whole new light.
