ABOUT
This is a website build and archiving project.
The brief was to build an easy-to-navigate informative website, along the lines of a funnel. The goal is to promote cross platform arts projects. The site highlights the work of the founder, Juwon Ogungbe, in particular through the first project that Afrocentric Creatives is developing called Ignatius Inspires.
The site has been built using the Tunepipe Wordpress template which has been developed by musician John Oszajca, chosen by the client. Our goal was to see if we can apply the template to successfully enhance developing audience using his technique for this project.
As this is a new project we have begun with one social media platform. We followed John's process but adapted it to work with Mailchimp, and used very few plugins, mostly ones recommended by John.
Initial text has been written by the client, and I have edited the copy. I have used images provided with the template where possible, but created a simple logo to link the site with the Facebook page. The initial images used include a photo provided by the client, and also an image of a painting by Gainsborough of Ignatius Sancho, which is available through Wiki Commons. Throughout the month of October, I will be updating the site with original images, audio, and text from the Ignatius Inspires project, which are being produced by Juwon with other participating artists and students from Haringey in London, UK at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre. Blog posts will be posted at intervals as the project progresses.
In addition to hosting the digital archive, the site will act as a funnel to enhance ticket sales and develop the Afrocentric Creatives mailing list.
So far the site has been fairly straightforward to set up, and simple to manage.
