ABOUT
Joe Vanhoutteghem with a very distinct tone of voice directed this touching railway ad for Belgian railway system NMBS. The film follows the story of people who are all in transit towards new horizons. The spot and its particular look & feel, with some scenes shot on film, was shot by Nicolas Karakatsanis (‘I, Tonya’, ‘Angel’, ‘Cruella’) as the DOP.
We witness our protagonists looking out the window – and the window turns into a projection of their thoughts, ambitions and dreams; A newly divorced father reminisces about his sons, an unhappy employee thinks about quitting her job and a young student sets ambitious goals to make the world a better place.
It is no secret that as time passes in a train, often our memories and thoughts come into place. The film elaborates on how to make life-changing choices, and to reminisce about the little joys in life. But also to let our thoughts and dreams run wild!
