About me

My name is Greg Marshall. I'm 27 and I live in central London.

I have a varied digital-marketing employment history, largely self-taught but including working directly for a small SEO company (working with local businesses in the countryside). I'm looking for a role to start ASAP that is going to offer me training and the chance to work with creative, like-minded people. I have a natural talent for copywriting and copyediting/proofreading and I can rapidly produce high quality copy for blogs, product descriptions, on page content etc., often on topics which are completely alien to me. I'm very conscious of the need for original content amongst the sea of poor quality copy out there and the ever-increasing ability of the major search engines to single out original, high quality writing.

I have a basic knowledge of HTML and editing pages in WYSIWYG editors to make on-page SEO tweaks. Aside from the above, I have been running my own e-commerce business for the last 9 months, for which I single-handedly oversaw the construction of our websites (instructing a development team, sourcing graphic designers and having them work together from different countries), personally implemented our SEO campaign, including external blog creation and maintenance, on-page content production, link building, URL manipulation: the list goes on. Some great contacts in the industry have helped me rocket my e-commerce sites (3 in total) onto page one for different, competitive terms. I happen to be friends with the head of SEO at PokerStars and his link-building contacts and general updates as to what's in vogue in the industry have been invaluable. We achieved all of this ourselves without paying any digital marketing companies. We're very proud of the campaign and I have had to learn a huge amount in the process.

I also took responsibility for all customer services and distribution and wrote up all of our accounts for VAT returns. I was responsible for sourcing our products in Hungary and China, testing samples with European safety regulators, liaising with factories to make design alterations and making the appropriate import arrangements here in the U.K. I have also managed our relatively small PPC campaigns but I'm familiar with researching keywords and building proposals right from the beginning of a campaign, and have done so in many different sectors. Unfortunately, our company simply didn't turn enough profit pay me sufficiently for my time and we have sold up to our competitors. This is why I'm now looking for full time employment.

I need to be given the opportunity to shift my enthusiasm for business and ambitious nature out of my home office and into a productive, professional environment. I want to take my eclectic group of skills and start to mould them into a career. I know I'm probably quite different from the average applicant but I'm looking for a company who will see this as an advantage rather than a hindrance.

Kind regards,

Greg Marshall.
