Soul Control Records was created in 2016 in order to build upon the renewed interest in the Northern Soul scene in recent years.

The purpose of creating the Soul Control brand was to help attract a young audience to the scene; specifically people who like Northern Soul music but would have previously been hesitant to engage with the scene.

Soul Control Records does this in two ways. Firstly, the creation of Soul Control Magazine, an independent, quarterly publication that focuses on Northern Soul culture and the people who make up the scene.

The magazine curates and brings together existing content made by people on the scene which includes written pieces, interviews and photography.

Secondly, the Soul Control brand functions as a record label, reissuing Northern Soul singles under the Soul Control Records name.

The label will also work with venues and existing Northern Soul DJ’s across the country to put on all-nighter, all-dayer and weekender events.
