Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to express my interest in working for your company in the role of Junior Designer. I discovered this vacancy through the Creativepool website, and I was immediately interested. I believe I have a variety of skills I could offer the company, which I hope you will consider.

I recently graduated from the University of Sussex with a First Class Honours degree in Media Practice and Theory, where I specialised in Digital Media. I am interested in many facets of digital media, including game design, 3D and 2D asset creation, web design, flash and application development, and I have attempted to become involved in as many varied aspects of digital media design as possible whilst studying for my course, as I hope my CV demonstrates. I have experience with a variety of media software, including Adobe Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator and InDesign, Autodesk Maya and 3DS Max and Avid video editing suite.

I have a solid understanding of IT and Computer Sciences, having studied Computing at A level where I developed a bespoke library computer system to deal with loans and returns for a local primary school using Visual Basic.NET and also having developed a video game for my final year degree project using Unity 3D and Javascript with TUIO input. I am currently in the early stages of a freelance web design project for a local pre-school.

At university I was a student representative for Media Practice and Theory, a role which required me to efficiently communicate concerns of students with the university faculty at regular meetings. As part of this role, I needed to effectively negotiate between the needs of different groups in order to help facilitate solutions to these issues.

I was also a member of the university's Media Degree Show team. This involved sourcing funds, budgeting, designing the website and booklet and organising the show venue. I was particularly involved in the web team in charge of designing the promotional website for the show, but the role also involved communication with the other teams to discuss plans, co-ordinate design and colour schemes and fairly distribute funding.

Although I currently live in Leicester, I would be very happy to relocate for a good role such as this one.
