ABOUT

In Pole Dancing with Carl Jung, we follow Zalak Raval on an unexpected journey of self-discovery, beginning in the least likely of places - a nightclub, hanging upside down on a pole. She quite literally collides with a moment of clarity. As she tumbles into a dreamlike space, Jung’s famous words echo in her mind: “Until you make your unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate.”

Through animated visual metaphors, she explores key tools for unlearning deep-seated patterns. First, she learns to understand her “normal”, recognising how past experiences - shaped by examples such as perfectionism, neglect, and control - have influenced her thoughts and relationships. Then, she discovers the power of getting selective with her thoughts, training herself to shift from negative, self-defeating narratives to more empowering beliefs, much like casting a Patronus in Harry Potter.

As she closes her eyes in meditation, she reaches for new possibilities, choosing conscious awareness over old programming. The film culminates in an explosion of positive/helpful thoughts, symbolising the infinite potential that arises when we clear space for passion and growth. Pole Dancing with Carl Jung is a visually dynamic and playful meditation on healing, self-awareness, and the power of reprogramming our minds.
