ABOUT

A proof-of-concept design and brand guidelines book for OceanSaver, looking at how they could present their brand and ensure a complete and cohesive brand vision.

The first couple of spreads would introduce the brand and its mission statement, as well as offering a glimpse of branded imagery. These pages would help define who they are and what they do.

The next few sections would look at how the logo should be used; what logo should be used where the minimum size the logo should be reduced to, the use of the secondary logo and icon concerning the primary one, and the colour variations that should be used depending on the background they are presented on.

We would then look at the use of imagery and how the logo should be used with the image. This would detail what types of imagery should be used for the brand and what kind of style they should adhere to. This section would also cover how imagery should be proportionate across different mediums.

The next section would detail the brand fonts and the hierarchy of each one: what size should be used for main headers, messaging headers, sub-headers, body copy, etc. It would give a detailed breakdown of why each particular font was chosen concerning the brand and how they fit in with the brand messaging and ethos.

The guidelines would then look at the primary and secondary colours used in the branding, and why these colours were chosen and what they symbolise. The brand colours need to relate to the key messaging of the brand in some way or another and the desired emotional response you want to elicit from your customer base.

I finally looked at the corporate identity of the brand and how that would translate across different forms of communication; from letterheads to business cards. The key here was to present a consistent look and feel that would help tie all of the visible elements of a brand, such as colour, design, and logo, that identify and distinguish the brand in consumers' minds.

I set about designing some key elements such as letterhead, business card and envelope that would help build a consistent corporate identity, and how some of these elements related to earlier branded creatives - packaging and logo.
