Concept - To design the AW20 range of handbags and small accessories for Katy Perry Collections. I worked along-side footwear designers in a transatlantic design team, to formulate 'Miami Nights' seasonal concept and develop a handbag range with a broad aesthetic, aimed at the international younger girls accessories market.

The AW20 Miami Nights range takes a step into a dystopian future where the sun doesn’t always rise. Ultra-bright lights of the city glow all night, and the sky turns a beautiful power-faded ombre of yellow, blue and pink. In this world, reality is digitally enhanced, giving us neon tropical beaches and exciting summer nights, evoking the surreal and heavenly. Through evolved technology, the past can be re-visited, but colour and shape is enhanced for your pleasure.

To awaken the senses, I have sought to challenge material perceptions by employing three main texture groups.

- Ultra-soft faux furs + feathers
- High-shine + clear plastics
- Exotic embossed leathers

Inspired by global metropolis night scenes. Neon lights of Tokyo and Miami. Luminescence in the dark. Bright neons are contrasted with deep. Dark hues for a high-energy palette. Apply this principal to materials. Selection and mix-up bright surfaces. Dare to clash prints and textures. Theme leads into ‘tropical disco’ and ‘retro pop’ styles.

Results - Collection was highly promoted by instagram influencers, and ultimately bought by Macey's New York as an exclusive in-store range.
