The idea behind the project was to research into materials not normally used in design, or used in new and unusual ways. I decided to combine this with the concept of upcycling. Upcycling is the process of repurposing something no longer in use and giving it a second life, the finished product often becomes more valuable and beautiful than simply recycling.

The concept behind this project was to take trash normally found in our environment which often has a negative impact on the nature around us and juxtapose it against the delicate beauty it is destroying by turning the cans into a historic butterfly collection. Serving as both a reminding of what we are losing, and why we are losing it.
