ABOUT

A short animation exploring the theory behind the effects of Dimethyltryptamine (DMT). It is believed that when close to death DMT is released by the brain slowing down our perception of time to such an extent that it is believed that we live forever in our memories.

I chose to use a simple cut out paper look contrasted with semi realistic effects. This was my first real use of After Effects for animation, it took two days to draw and animate the project, the music and sound fx are creative commons. I make use of 3D layers to create 2.5D scenes and parallax effects for depth.

I really enjoy working with this style of animation and found the project really rewarding, it allowed me to explore all of my influences and pay homage to them in my own way.
