I am very lucky to live 90 minutes away from one of the most beautiful areas on this planet.

The Lake District.

A UNESCO World Heritage site located in Cumbria, North West England which covers an area of over 2,000 km².

When I get the opportunity, especially at the weekends, I love to head up there. Often making a full day or a weekend adventure.

The purpose is simply to hike in whatever the weather and capture the scenery along the way.

There is a famous collection of peaks in the lakes called 'The Wainwrights'. If you tick them all off, you can pretty much say you have covered the entire region. Officially there are 214 in total. Covering a multitude of hikes, from easy to difficult.

Included in this collection is Scafell Pike which is Englands highest peak. A Wainwright that I ticked off for the first time in January this year - the photo of the trig covered in ice, is the summit of this beast of a mountain.

I think I am approaching around the 50 Wainwright mark - so plenty more to do before I can claim the achievement.
