ABOUT

Scripted, filmed and edited a news package about homelessness, which received more than 3,800 views on YouTube.

I approached this topic as I noticed more and more rough sleepers on the streets of the capital. By researching and talking to various organisations, I discovered that the number of rough sleepers in Croydon has skyrocketed in the past year, making it the worst borough for homelessness in the capital. I followed for two evenings the charity NighWatch, which every night brings food and blankets to the rough sleepers in Croydon. There, I had the chance to talk to several people who shared their stories and difficulties, learning that homelessness doesn’t necessarily mean not having a roof over your head, but also being subject to discrimination and insecurities. I think for me it was important to send across the message that rough sleepers are often in their condition because of lack of support from authorities. When I published the video on Youtube, within two weeks, it has been shared more than 100 times on social media and, more than one year after filming, I still see people sharing the stories with their network.
