ABOUT

My first design experience was freelancing at GLOphotonics I delivered a brief to design their company logo. This was my first experience of working on a design project, enabling me to understand what to expect in this type of role. I utilised InDesign and Photoshop to deliver the brief.

After I want on to freelancing for Nubo Consulting, I delivered a brief to design their company logo and associated website animations. Working for this company again gave me more client-facing experience interpreting their vision of the company. I utilised Flash, Photoshop and InDesign to deliver the briefs.

My first permanent role as a graphic designer, was working at Essex Sign and Print. My responsibilities included designing proofs based upon client’s requirements detailed via a proforma. The proofs included banners, posters, signs, and flyers. Once approved by the client the proofs were formatted for printing.
Other responsibilities included answering phone calls, and taking payments from clients.

I currently work as a graphic designer for Active Signs and Design, which is in partnership with National Signs. My role is to design proofs for them based upon their exact requirements. The proofs include banners, posters, signs, and flyers. When the clients have approved the artwork, I print them out on to the specified material. Between designs I answer phone calls, helping with enquiries, placing orders, utilising product knowledge and taking payments. In addition I work in production, including printing out designs on various different materials, making up boards, banners etc.
The role has also allowed me to gain management experience filling in for my manager when on holiday, thereby allowing me the chance to show that I am capable of running a small business and keeping everything up to date and running smoothly.
