About me

To whom this may concern,

With the utmost enthusiasm, I would like to express my interest in the Graphic Designer position. I believe that my passion for design, strong commitment to art, and interest in advertising make me an ideal candidate to join the creative staff.

As a candidate, here's what I could immediately bring to the table:

I am effective with branding Identities: In my role at Christ Church Students' Union, I regenerated their corporate identity, producing a contemporary, fun and identifiable brand for a diverse, ever changing demographic. I achieved this, by utilising my understanding of colour and staying abreast of the current design trends. Through this, the Students' Union saw an increase in awareness and a decrease in confusion between services provided by the university and themselves. I was also able to showcase my branding abilities as a student in my professional creative practice, "Velocity", project by researching the target audience and music genre for the event. For this project I produced event promotional packs including: logo, branding guidelines, flyers, posters, social network branding and a website mock-up.

Being part of a marketing team provided me with a strong base of communication knowledge and helped me learn how to develop and work on several projects at once. A few of these projects consisted of designing large scale building and window vinyls which I found interesting. However this did have it's difficulties, for instance liaising with the various departments of the university and city council to confirm where the vinyls could be placed was a time consuming process for a project with a tight deadline. As well as this, I worked on a variety of different mediums from printed corporate booklets to digital posters and website elements - further developing my interest in design and the impact it has upon the target audience.

I am a passionate motion graphic designer: Everything I have engaged in so far has all been driven by my keen interest in Digital. Even as an in house Freelance Graphic Designer for an events company, Republic Events, I made sure to dedicate some part of my day to animation. When creating high impact designs I would employ animation and motion graphics to produce an alternative to stills, moving the company away from print orientated campaigns to digital. Academically, my extensive course work in Digital Media has allowed me to gain an understanding and appreciation for computer based mediums to produce original artistic, functional and user friendly designs. Also, from my animation modules and working briefly with motion posters during my time at university, I have anticipated excelling in digital design and I believe your company would be a great place to achieve this.

I look forward to contributing my skills and experiences to the Graphic Designer position and hope to have the opportunity to speak with you further about how I can be an asset to your team.
