ABOUT

The brief was to make 6 shorts, shot for vertical display, that all functioned as "silent movies", both for the purposes of social media and international appeal. They needed to sell the advantages of having automated blinds in a humorous or romantic way.
Hunter Douglas came with a loose idea for a couple of shorts, so I wrote those out and pitched a few more concepts. We picked the ones which resonated best with them and developed 6 storyboards.
We built one set with 3 windows which would be our adaptable back drop for all of our films, and spent 3 days with 7 actors and a dog putting together our stories.
When one concept was vetoed at the last minute we came up with a new one on set, sourced a bonsai tree and shot it the next day (!).
The posts saw huge social media engagement and showed Hunter Douglas embracing vertical story telling at a time before Instagram stories had made it the norm.
