ABOUT
An interpretation of the Kurt Schwitters story called ‘Fish and Man’. It illustrates what initially is a lighthearted and happy story as one which, in reality, is quite dark and depressing - a similar theme within many of Schwitters’ Tales. I designed a large panoramic poster to show the storyline. The original story was split into ten separate numbered sections and so I decided to illustrate each of these individually in a style that initially appears happy and cheerful, similar to a children’s book.
The poster has a digital element; there is an app that works alongside it. At each of the ten points in the story, the audience can place their phone/device on the poster and the app enables them to turn the flat illustrations into animations and interactive elements on their phone. These illustrations are done in a much darker and more gloomy way to reflect the real ideas and concept behind the tale.
