About me

I am currently an undergraduate student, studying a BA (Hons) The Art of Computer Animation course at Escape Studios in London, just completed my 2nd year.

Prior to my studies I have had both self-taught, and some professional/independent filmmaking experience, such as having come out of a previous practice coming out of drama school and became a signed actor taking on small roles in both indie-shorts and theatre, as well as corporate work. I have also had a three-day work experience as a camera trainee for the ITV drama 'White House Farm' and was a temporary 2nd AC on one of those days to cover for someone which I did well at for a first timer. I then decided to set myself up as a freelance camera operator, which was recommended to me to pursue by camera operator Ben Wheeler to getting better at my craft. I've attended workshops and events for BFI, The National Youth Film Academy and other independent production companies and community groups, where I got the opportunities to direct my own short documentaries, being a cinematographer for a short film that was screened at the 02 arena, and helped camera operate behind a friend's documentary concerning a family whose son was a victim to knife crime in the UK, which won a bronze award at The Charity Film Awards. I have also partaken in studio projects as part of the modules towards my degree at Escape Studios, one of them I was involved as a DP and storyboard artist, as well as an animator, for a short, animated trailer which has currently won five awards from independent short film festival circuits, and a short animated mocumentary which I was also a DP, storyboard artist, and animator for, and voice acted as a David Attenborough-like narrator. After completing my second year, I banded together a small group of animators, and composer, to help make my short proof of concept over the summer break for a low-budget horror comedy animated feature that I am driven to get off the ground and make as my directorial debut.

My degree course, and the handful of content that I have made has prepared me for the position, as I have learned several key skills such as animation, and storyboarding as my chosen specialism, as well as skills that I have learnt outside of my studies such as photography, cinematography, editing, painting and drawing, as well as having been trained in acting in drama school which also plays a crucial role in bringing more nuanced and believable performances when bringing a character to life; not forgetting my love for drawing and creating that I would love to contribute to this project and many others in the near future if given the opportunity. I have had experience working on film sets and have learnt the whole pipeline that goes into an animated production during my current studies, as well as some shared knowledge of the business along the way from my tutors who have had first-hand experience, to help give me more clarity of its importance that has helped me feel more comfortable and fully prepared, and most importantly I have learnt to adapt as a team player when undertaking group projects and delivering content in time like if I were working on a professional studio production; relying on my initiative and self-motivational skills in helping the group and I to meet our expected deadlines.
