To Whom It May Concern,

Hello, my name is Gary O'Dea. This is an introductory letter that accompanies my enclosed CV.

I wish to apply for the position of Communications Traffic Co-ordinator that you have advertised. I feel that I have transferable experience and skills for my work history that would suit the requirements of this role.

I am currently employed full time as Copyright and Digitisation Co-ordinator at the University of Wolverhampton. I have worked and developed this role (originally a part time post) since September 2002. My previous experience of copyright matters has been from my involvement in the music business, Musicians' Union and Performing Rights Society.

I am enquiring about alternative employment because of a restructure of my department and repositioning of the University in as far as how it operates. I have decided to seek pastures new and a new challenge. I leave the University at Christmas 2010.

I have enjoyed my role and time working at the University (I was here as a student as well) and have raised the profile of Copyright in the institution considerably.

I am looking for a full time position and if there are opportunities with your company I would like to discuss my suitability with you via an interview at a mutually convenient time.

Some of the commendations on my achievements in my position include:-

Being commended and credited on my efforts to ‘raise the awareness, importance and profile of copyright particularly with academic staff'.

My having ‘adopted a good mix of approaches to get copyright issues across to staff and students'.

My management of copyright information on the University's web pages and also my development of promotional material via posters / leaflets etc

My endeavours to go out and meet staff / students around the different campuses of the University and having ‘very good personal skills with staff in Schools and Service Departments'

My ‘pragmatic approach' to my job

My ‘quickly built up expertise in copyright through attendance of external courses'.

My networking with other copyright colleagues at various Institutions around the country. This has helped me with research on copyright matters that have arisen during my position at the University of Wolverhampton.

My ‘cheerful approach to a rather dry but challenging subject matter'.

Good attention to licensing details.

I can supply references from other previous employment posts as well if needed.

I would be very interested in gaining an interview with you to discuss my skills and suitability further.

My current annual salary details are £27,318:00 p/year.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Yours Faithfully

Gary O'Dea
