Feira do Livro is an annual book fair happening in the city of Santa Maria in the south of Brazil.
The idea was mostly inspired by the great works of literature such as Alice in Wonderland, The Hobbit, Game of Thrones and The Little Prince, as these were also known through other media (tv shows, games) and therefore would
speak to wider audience. The idea was to incorporate elements of fantasy and fairy tales.
Phase 1 : Brainstorming
The initial work process started with sketches and illustrations, aiming at recreating the feel of something magical and mythical.
Phase 2: Prototyping
Illustrations gave birth to the idea of directing a photoshoot based on well-known books, and then using photo manipulation techniques to create pictures which would serve for the purpose of being incorporated in the marketing collateral.
Phase 3: Sketch typography
Final touch ups: The last phase was the creation of fluid typography which would be composed of magical and mystical features, and this was achieved through the use of ornamental and floral elements, alongside the shade of white and yellow associated with energy and warmth to give it a family friendly and positive feel.
