ABOUT

The challenge for the 2026 Jeep Cherokee was not merely to debut a vehicle, but to reassert its cultural dominance in a congested SUV market. Jeep needed to reawaken the all‑new Cherokee as “America’s Original Influencer”—shifting the audience’s perception from a legacy nameplate to a contemporary trailblazer.

The primary objectives were to:
- Reignite emotional connection: Engage multi-generational loyalists while capturing the attention of next-generation SUV buyers.
- Prove unrivaled capability: Demonstrate the Jeep’s 4x4 capabilities in a disruptive, undeniable way.
- Generate mass cultural impact: Launch the new campaign with maximum media and social reach.

The Concept
In a world where “influence” is measured by shared moments, a standard “cars on carpet” stage reveal wouldn't cut it. Instead, GPJ set out to turn the most unexpected outdoor environment—the city—into an immersive proving ground.

The strategy used nostalgia as a functional bridge to modernity. By leveraging the Cherokee's 50-year heritage, GPJ designed a kinetic, decade-hopping journey that made Jeep’s history feel lived-in yet current. To anchor the launch in cultural authenticity, the experience leveraged the geographical pioneer of New York City and hip-hop legend LL COOL J—whose career longevity perfectly mirrored the Cherokee's legacy.

The Execution
GPJ transformed Domino Park in Brooklyn into the Jeep 4x4 City Camp, a massive 6-acre, three-day public launch. The experience was divided into two spectacular builds:
The Land Build (Immersive Storytelling): The park was transformed into four immersive, decade-themed outdoor vignettes spanning the 1970s to the 2000s. Attendees could relax by a '70s campfire, explore a neon-lit '80s garage, hang out in a '90s bedroom, or visit a 2000s mini-mart. Each area was dressed with film-grade props and featured a corresponding vintage Cherokee.

The Water Build (Proof of Performance): To prove that Jeep capability knows no bounds, GPJ engineered a first-of-its-kind floating off-road course on the East River. Built across two barges using 700 cubic yards of crushed stone and over 60 live trees, the Cherokee literally "drove on water" against the dramatic backdrop of the Manhattan skyline.

The Cultural Zenith: The reveal culminated with a surprise concert from LL COOL J. His iconic line, “Don’t Call it a Comeback,” officially launched the “America’s Original Influencer” campaign.

Mediums & Amplification
To collapse the distance between the in‑person spectacle and mass participation, the launch utilized a highly integrated digital and broadcast strategy. The physical experience was amplified via a Times Square livestream takeover, social broadcasting across Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, and live audio coverage on SiriusXM’s Rock the Bells Radio. The event was purposely built for creators, integrating real-time influencer content distribution.

The Results
The 4x4 City Camp exceeded all visibility and performance objectives, setting a new benchmark for automotive brand launches:
- Massive Reach: Generated 6.8 Billion gross media impressions from 996 pieces of traditional media coverage.
- Brand Sentiment: Reveal coverage achieved an incredible 93% positive sentiment.
- Social Dominance: Earned 11.8 million social impressions, driving 81K engagements (+75% vs. benchmark). Livestream views topped 902K on Instagram/Facebook and 81K on YouTube.
- Creator Impact: 126 media and creators attended onsite (61% female creators; 50% multicultural/growth voices), generating the equivalent of over $500K in earned influencer value.
- Business Impact: The spectacle drove immediate consumer action, pushing website traffic to 835K visits through early September, including a 30% increase in direct traffic.
