ABOUT
Locky was born from a simple problem, bike theft in cities is rising, and existing locks are either bulky, passive, or easy to defeat. Futurewave set out to design a connected security device that integrates directly into the bike, combining GPS tracking, a smart locking mechanism, and solar-powered energy harvesting into one compact system.
Execution:
Futurewave led the full product development from system definition through to industrial readiness. The team designed the product architecture to merge low-power electronics, embedded software, and a durable industrial design suited for outdoor use. A solar charging system was integrated to eliminate battery maintenance, while real-time connectivity enables remote locking, theft alerts, and location tracking via a companion app. Every component was engineered with manufacturing constraints in mind, ensuring the transition from prototype to production-ready hardware.
Results:
Locky delivers a fully autonomous, maintenance-free bike security system that keeps cyclists connected to their bike at all times. The project demonstrates Futurewave's ability to take an emerging technology concept and turn it into a manufacturable physical product — integrating industrial design, electronics, and embedded software into a single cohesive device.
