As the UK’s leading social mobility charity, Speakers for Schools work with educators to provide state-educated 14-19-year-olds with the life-changing work experience they deserve.

But 66% of young people still leave school with no work experience*.

And without adding to our network of state schools and colleges there won’t be enough opportunities to change this statistic.

So, how do we find and onboard new institutions to join us in our mission?

By attending careers events with an exhibition stand that draws educators in and compels them to start their students’ work experience story with us.

STORIES OUTSIDE THE BOX

The exhibition stand where the reasons to do work experience definitely do stack up. In the form of captivating stories from students and famous faces on the sides of fold-up boxes, complete with a ‘title cube’, alongside a wall of hand-written anecdotes from our visiting educators – who were invited over to share their own placement story; “I worked with a semi-professional pigeon fancier” and consider why their students don’t have their own story to tell.

Whilst in our exhibition space educators were encouraged to play with our mix and match career cubes, to see all the different exciting variations of jobs and industries which are available to young people through work experience.

At our first event we secured 27 teacher registrations in a single day, allowing us to reach thousands more young people and change lives through work experience.
