In May 2017 Metal Hammer began work on a Stone Sour cover to celebrate the release of their new album 'Hydrograd'.
Corey Taylor has been particularly outspoken on many things in the past but one in particular that inspired this was his thoughts on President Trump. As a team we decided to create a world where Corey was president, this also played on the impression to the outside world that as frontman he's the leader of Stone Sour (he's not but you'll need to read the feature to work out why).
I then worked out how this should look in sketches before working closely with photographer John McMurtrie take pictures of both Corey and Josh Rand in London. Once we had images Magictorch recreated the Oval office using a 3D model. Adjusting all aspects of position and lighting with a solid film like finish to make it look how I visioned it. Even adding in some hidden and not so hidden details for the fans of the band. One particular detail was that due to timing Metal Hammer couldn't get the whole band involved in the photoshoot so to solve this I decided that President Corey and Vice President Josh would have pictures of them on the desk and in the background.
