Based on a clear brief from the client, Owner Wines, an artwork with an antique ink engraving style was created, using the figure of a crusader to represent temperance, steadfastness, and heritage. A few sketches were developed directly in Photoshop, and once approved, the artwork was vectorized to be applied in the redesign of the new label art.
We first worked in Photoshop to achieve a more weathered, handcrafted style, utilizing highly irregular brushwork and painting to emphasize the engraving style when printed. This was created in a large-format scale to meticulously work on the details, before ultimately converting it into vectors using Illustrator.
