ABOUT
Consensus was a connection made through a mutual friend on a night out in Deptford. He had some funding for an album with reference to science education through rap and needed videos to every song on the album.
I created two videos for him, this being the first and much more videography focused than the 2nd, D.U.N.E which was much more animation heavy.
The concept was very simple, Consensus as a mad scientist creating machines and, eventually augmenting even himself into a cyborg. I consciously wanted the whole thing to feel really lo-fi DIY underground film-making akin to some of my favourite wierd wonders from the 1980s and 90s. i wanted a fast at times offbeat cutting rhythm, combined with 2D animation and stop-motion techniques.
This was shot without storyboard and recycled props from other shoots and my own personal collection of outdated techno-junk. The Police were played by two housemates at the time and that sequence was shot some months after the rest of the video that was shot on a quiet afternoon in a different house.
