ABOUT
Albinos is a series of portraits of people with albinism leaving in Malaga(South Spain), this rare conditions the lack of pigmentation in skin, hair and eyes what it brings some health issues like lack vision and skin problems. To live with albinism in one of the sunniest cities in the world is quite challenging.
Amin is a 23 years old young man with albinism. He is studying to become hotel receptionist in a hotel where O.N.C.E (The Spanish blind association)where hire workers with visual disabilities. He also plays football and last year could take part in his first world football competition for players with visual disabilities.
Dina comes from Morocco, she speaks Spanish, Arab, French and English perfectly she plans to work as a interpreter, she has 2 sisters that are also albino. This disorder did not bring many issues to her, but sometimes is scared to go out at late night because she cannot see.
Gracia is full of energy even though she does not only have albinism but she suffers Poliomyelitis since she was a child, she loves doing contact dance, she practice it weekly in a wheelchair. As I child she remembered it was called "Witch" by her classmates because the white color of her hair.
Paquito has quite a deep voice, he works developing apps for people with visual disabilities. About being albino, he said, did not influence much his life. But sometimes get annoyed by the people staring at him, but he is glad children stare at him, in the winter sometimes happens that think he is Santa Claus because of his white long beard.
Sonia was very welcoming, she laughs during all the interview, she sells lottery in a small kiosk from O.N.C.E (Spanish blind association), she was the second position in national shooting competition, her lack of vision does not quit her from shooting, she shots with a device who makes a higher sound when the gun is getting to the center of the target. She has two children totally opposite to her with dark eyes and darker skin.
