About me
I describe myself as a positive, bright and extravert person. I enjoy meeting new people and working in team environments and I benefit from a fast-paced workplace as I work well under pressure and perform to a high standard.
I worked in fashion retail since 2003, balancing a part-time sales assistant job with a full-time degree at Greenwich University since 2006. I was promoted to supervisor/ floor manager for Calvin Klein Jeans last year, where my duties included cashing-up, administration, merchandising and updating head offices in Italy and London on the store's targets and progress.
This position gave me the opportunity to further my social and communication skills through customer service and leading a team of up to ten people. As team leader I had the responsibility of motivating colleagues and setting day to day strategic plans in order to achieve targets. Managing the team gave me great pleasure on both a professional and personal level, I am able to communicate and relate with people on a friendly basis while maintaining the ability to compose authority when necessary.
.
Through my studies, I gained an in-depth understanding of media culture and how it shapes and alters the dynamics of today's diverse cultures and societies. I have a good eye for aesthetics and semiotics, which is a skill I exploited in my previous job.
My interest in the media industry has broadened thanks to the diversity of my course and its modules. Modules such as media markets, print journalism, reading film and film production have given me an open minded approach to the wide range of possible career paths within the media industry and outside the industry. I am therefore willing to venture these and other possibilities and would learn any other kinds of skills required in future work placements.
