Dear Sir or Madam

I am writing to apply for the Digital Designer position advertised. I have been in the E-commerce Photography Retouching team for Paul Smith for 2 and a half years and am now looking to progress to a new role to transfer and further my skills.

For the last 2 years I have built a fantastic skill set as the only full time digital retoucher at Paul Smith. Setting a high standard of image editing for the E-commerce team I have now progressed to a senior level where I have trained and mentored 2 new retouchers, as well as organising weekly workload for the team, archiving files and setting the standard of work for team members to follow.

Frequently assisting on a range of studio model photo shoots and retouching live on location for company Lookbooks with a 24 hour turn around, shows my ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced industry. Successful communication has been my key to creating a positive professional environment, I have great experience working along side photographers, content editors and copywriters, and play an integral part implementing new ideas and work processes. Working everyday with content editors to turn the edited images into HTML banners and uploading through our CMS using Magento. My latest project that went live last month was creating and retouching 80 category headers that appear on every category page on the site.

With an extensive portfolio of high calibre fashion image retouching and an award winning portfolio of graphic design I believe that I can offer a wealth of talent and transferable skills to the advertised Digital Designer role. Not only can I offer your company my expertise from a valued position as a part of the Paul Smith team but also my skill set from design experience working in the film and graphics industry. I have held several positions in Art Departments creating artwork to be seen on screen and in sets. I quickly engage in the design process to meet deadlines and have done so for clients such as the BBC. As a confident digital image editor/ artworker I have also worked on a successful BAFTA nominated TV series, produced commercial brand identities and won a New Designer of the Year award for work including a stop frame type animation.

With all of these assets and more I feel that I can excel in the advertised Digital Designer role and become a valuable asset to the company.
