ABOUT
We were commissioned to create, illustrate and supply the mapping and signage for 10 urban monoliths for Poole town centre as part of their re-generation of the Townside area.
The top panels place the user in the wider context of the Poole area by means of an overview map which also shows the coverage of the main map below. They also indicate the direction of travel to many areas and landmarks, and suggests how long it will take to walk or cycle there.
Each monolith is double-sided and features heads-up mapping at a scale of 1:1,000. The detailed cartography of the 20 different panels (printed on 4mm PETG) features useful information for cyclists, pedestrians, shoppers and tourists, such as cycling infrastructure, crossings, public transport information, car parks, attractions, landmarks, shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants. A handy isochrone lets users know how far they can walk in 5 minutes from that monolith, and there are x83 3D-illustrations of eight notable Poole landmarks across the 20 maps, all drawn by FourPoint Mapping, and viewed in the correct orientation.
