ABOUT

The brief
The brief was to design and create a website that stayed true to the brand, whilst housing all of the different services that Hever Castle & Gardens have on offer. The Hever Castle brand has a contemporary look-and-feel and the website needed to reflect that. The new website design had to be more UX friendly, taking a mobile first approach. They wanted to include editorial, lifestyle and social elements in to the design, as well as lots of cross-selling and relevant content.

The website will be acting as a hub for the castle, the golf club, gardens, weddings and hire. Because of this, the overall website will be hefty – to say the least. With this in mind, I used modular design to ensure that the build would be a lot more seamless. I designed a variety of modules for Hever Golf to begin with, which would then be rolled out across the other pages.

The result
By incorporating features such as panoramic imagery, the beautiful grounds of Hever can be showcased much more clearly. Clear calls to action allow the user to book and enquire with ease. The site is quite copy heavy in places, which was one of the key challenges that the client was recognising. To solve this issue, the copy was split into categories and accordions to appease the user that would want to have this full information available to them. Lifestyle and editorial content is presented in a way that aligns with the contemporary aesthetics of the brand, and as an added cross-sell feature, I designed a shop feature.
