ABOUT
I faced two challenges with this project: the length of the copy and the lack of time. The deadline for this video (a paid broadcast advert to be on air for Eurosport) was set for 7 working days after I received the assets.
After an initial briefing, I proceeded with the selection of the most relevant shots and worked together with the copywriter to adjust and cut the copy in the best possible way. After that, I worked with the designers to create the background for the texts, aligned with the tournament branding. So, I animated the background and the copy in After Effects, after extruding the texts and preparing the materials in Cinema 4D for reflecting the general design idea.
The next step was editing the actual video in Premiere, putting together all the visual assets, clips, VO, sound effects and music. I, also, color graded the shots according to the guidelines given by the creative director. At this point only the last part of the video was missing. In the last shot with actors, the table had the wrong brand on it, so I adjusted the composition by overlapping the wrong logo with the right one and tracking it for the best blending. After that, I worked together with our 3D artist for preparing the very last table animation, giving direction in terms of assets modelling and blending everything together, using dynamic camera, replicators, and physics in Cinema 4D for creating the complete CGI shot. After the last adjustments in After Effects for a better consistency, the completed video was ready.
I just had to comply with the broadcast guidelines in terms of timeline settings, clock, audio, and video limiters. The project was successfully delivered in time, and it became a very big hit, as the company still uses it as a base for any WPT Online Championship new promotion since that time.
