ABOUT

New Zealand boaties are a stubborn group who tend to ignore safety messages. Maritime New Zealand wanted to educate boaties (particularly males aged 35+) on the three key water safety rules. But first we had to get their attention.

Maritime New Zealand joined forces with Radio Hauraki, a station that started life broadcasting illegally from international waters. So we took them back on the ocean for an unmissable audio experience.

We turned the Radio Hauraki Drive Show into a 3-Hour Water Safety Briefing - sneaky safety messages delivered with a whole lot of belly laughs.

Broadcasting on radio, social and even VHF radio, we spoke to boaties while they were still on land - 366,800 of them on radio and social channels. We educated the next generation of boaties without a single bloke touching the dial.
