ABOUT
Inspired by the classic design of the iconic handheld gaming device, I created a detailed 3D model of the Nintendo GameBoy using the Blender program. My goal was not only to accurately recreate the appearance of the device, but also to convey the atmosphere of nostalgia characteristic of this era.
1. Modeling in Blender: To begin with, an accurate model of the GameBoy case, screen, and buttons was made, taking into account the smallest details such as the textures on the buttons and the relief of the case. I have carefully recreated the shape and proportions of the device, paying attention to the characteristic features such as the shape of the crosspiece and the location of the buttons.
2. Application of lighting and textures: To create a photorealistic image, I used a variety of lighting in the scene. The inclusion of soft three-point lighting highlighted the details of the device and highlighted its textures, giving volume and realism. I also used HDRI lighting to add natural reflections and ambient ambiance.
I paid special attention to textures. For the case, I used the texture of old plastic with slight scuffs and scratches to emphasize the age and use of the device. The buttons have been designed with their smooth surface in mind, adding textures that mimic wear while still maintaining a neat look. The screen was implemented using high-quality images to add dynamics to the model, creating the feeling that the device is actually on.
3. Photoshop refinement: After the basic rendering was completed in Blender, I transferred the image to Photoshop for further processing. In Photoshop, I focused on the final presentation by improving contrast and color saturation, as well as adding additional lighting effects to create visual dynamics and highlight details such as reflections on the screen and plastic.
I also used post-processing techniques to create a light vignette around the edges of the image, which added depth and focused the viewer's attention on the central details — the screen and buttons.
4. Presentation and presentation of the project: The finished model was presented from several angles so that the viewer could appreciate all the subtleties of the work. I added smooth animations to show how the device "comes to life": camera movement around the GameBoy and changing the screen on which the game image appears. This effect emphasizes the interactivity and dynamism of the model.
5. The final result: Each element has been carefully crafted to create a realistic image that not only displays precise geometry and textures, but also evokes nostalgic memories of the golden era of video games. Using Blender for modeling and Photoshop for final refinement allowed us to create a visually appealing and detailed project that accurately captures the atmosphere and spirit of the original Nintendo GameBoy.
