Fablevision Studios has been commissioned to make a behind-the-scenes short film on Turn a performance art project founded by Nic Green and team, which synchronises voice, broadcast recordings and bells (hand-cast by Green) choreographed to the appearance of the moon and the ebb and flow of the tides.
Over three days, 1st, 16th and 30th, September, 2016, Green and her fellow musicians ran into a tempest as Govan’s seasonally maladjusted weather brought an overbearing sense of sturm und drang – to say nothing of donner and blitzen – to the occasion. The spectacular sight of Govan’s derelict Graving Docks, the stage for the performance, was blasted by incessant rain which didn’t stop the performance but made filming of it well nigh impossible.
The plan now is to cut what footage there is with images and interviews to give a broader understanding of the ideas behind the work. A sample of the choir’s magnificent singing can been seen and heard via a video clip on Turn’s Facebook page.
