Evolve Media Claremont

ABOUT

OSHI or the Open Source Homelessness Initiative, is a non-profit organization that centralizes information and resources to accelerate the eradication of homelessness. It is a research and development arm of John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects, an LA-based architectural practice. Evolve Media, in collaboration with Jeffrey Morris of Facility Brand Design, and the team from John Friedman Alice Kimm Architects, developed this forward thinking website.

Evolve Media was tasked to come up with a way for architects and designers to submit their work as it relates to low income housing initiatives. This way others wishing to review resources as it relates to projects they may be working on or considering can compare and contrast.

The site has proven to be a success and has grown to include news and information around homeless initiatives in the area, as well as Art and how it relates and touches the lives of the people who have been affected by homelessness.

Equally as important as OSHI's project case studies is the site's emphasis on the perspective of currently and formerly houseless people through its Arts section—which features firsthand experiences, preferences, and design opinions of those in supportive housing.
