I am motivated, patient and organised. I have an excellent working knowledge of Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office and Final Cut Pro. I utilise my excellent communication and interpersonal skills in the administrative, creative, and educational sectors. As an assistant I provided secretarial, administrative and clerical support to the director of ArtHouse and other staff in my role within the Students Union. I was the first point of contact for the public, taking calls, referring to relevant staff members and providing the appropriate information. I also answered general enquiries about the organisation, ensured the general running and maintenance of computer and office equipment, and provided general support to staff when needed. I supported staff in all aspects of the administration of contracts, risk assessments and preparation of the upcoming Arts Trail and year-round programme of education, talks, events, publishing and research. I sourced media outlets for the publication of events, and also organised and took recorded meetings with Artists.
In the university, I worked together with staff organising festivals and events happening in and around the university itself. This included, but was not limited to, setting tables, stands, and speakers around the lobby. I also looked after artists who were invited to the university ensuring travel and hospitality was arranged. I organised, planning, visas, travel, accommodation and booked travel and accommodation for artists, speakers, curators and research trips, studio visits and artist and curator visits. I worked with the head of production and international projects to ensure all planning deadlines were met. I frequently wrote reports on the student council and articles for the online student union magazine. As secretary for the Arts and Culture society I supported the programme team with the detailed logistics of the programme, including moving and handling, security, registration and insurance of all the artworks commissioned, and administering loans for the university and gallery. I supported the Chair in filing and administration of contracts with participants in exhibitions and year-round programme, and with non-partner venue sites. I maintained curatorial archives, supported the society in coordinating and producing written interpretation for sites, online and in press releases, curated exhibitions, and arranged a monthly art walk with members of the society. The society received Gold and Bronze Society of the year award for the past two years and has now established a growing artist network in #artistslegup.
While working as LGBT officer I put together information packs on sexuality, mental health awareness and transgender issues. I prepared and provided welcome packs, and supported the needs of participants in the NUS - USI. I arranged meetings with other regional officers, corresponding with follow up information from the meetings. I advocated on social media pages and responded to comments left on pages, answering questions and sending information. I monitored social media outlets and was heavily involved in the Rainbow Project #out2vote campaign encouraging young people to register to vote and use their vote in upcoming elections. I supported the coordinators and staff in updating the website and I took pictures of people in the social venues and posted them online to increase awareness of the campaign. The campaign itself was very successful, registering a total of 2000 young people in Northern Ireland. I also assisted in reporting results to local councils and surveys to aid in creating more accurate statistics.
Whilst working as an art teacher, I organised school events, and created, researched and delivered lesson plans in art. I taught children about art practise in easy to follow formats. I was awarded Teacher of the Year for successfully maintaining and improving behavioural standards within the classroom.
As a team leader of the mural project I liaised with Belfast City Council directors and local community discussing the implication of the mural and the rewards of bringing different communities together. I worked with a team of 5 core volunteers. I was responsible for petty cash and per diems and overseeing taxi use for the team. I did day-to-day administration of budgets using Excel. I delegated specific tasks to each team member. I had administrative duties, such as organising travel and accommodation for artists, preparing and updating checklists and timelines, filing, photocopying and processing invoices and other tasks. I wrote emails to the arts council asking to subsidize costs for materials. I worked on my own initiative to set targets in relation to the deadline of the mural. I was flexible and worked evenings and weekends displaying my commitment to the project. I developed systems to share how the project was getting on, showing the targets reached month by month in accordance to the deadline.
