In 2009 I was asked to produce creative artwork for Alfa Romeo 100 years anniversary by the illustration organisation Illustrative in Germany.

It was a great opportunity to study how Alfa Romeo built their best cars last 100 years. To know well about Alfa Romeo, I contacted and interviewed several Alfa Romeo dealers in around the world. I believe that the illustrators should not only staying at home and draw, but also be more active, interview people and go out for research.

I found a great teacher, who is a very passionated Alfa Romeo dealer called Del Auto in Yokohama. He taught me various legendary stories which made Alfa Romeo famous. In the beginning I was planning to draw classic Alfa Romeo cars, however, more I studied about racers who drove Alfa Romeo in past, I got a big passion to draw racers, and Alfa Romeo’s iconic front grill shape.
