I was interested in creating a collectible trading card set of cryptid monster cards for a horror convention. To wanted them to have high visibility in a crowded convention setting and wanted them to have a sense of nostalgia but with a fresh take.

Early on I opted for a blacklight color treatment to set them apart from other similar card sets. This also checked the boxes of the retro feel and the high visibility.

To give them a true trading card feel I gave the set a brand and a logo that fit the retro-fresh. And so Moonlit Monsters was born. I selected creatures from North America as that was the primary audience for the convention. I also made sure to include some creatures that convention attendees would be familiar with to help drive interest and sales.

Finally, in addition to the card art, I created packaging - wrappers and an attention grabbing POS box - to further push the nostalgia factor. For the actual show, I set up a blacklight to really make the display pop.
