ABOUT

M’Angaine, the intrepid warrior, was carrying an eight-foot long spear that shadowed his generous frame by about two feet. His four-foot custom-made shield was glistening with freshly applied oil extracted from his father’s celebrated Rams. His face was hidden behind a monkey-face hood (Nkariunga) that covered his wide forehead, in the process funneling his aggressive gaze to whichever direction he was facing.

The hood was complimented by a single Ostrich feather that flattered in the wind announcing to all and sundry that a General was passing by. His hair was dyed ochre red and fell freely on his shoulders in a tangle of thinly weaved rastas that resembled the mane of a Lion.

On his bare broad chest was a thong that carried a golden brown karaffe of tobacco that hung loosely around his navel. Around the waist he wore a dirty brown leather tunic that was in two flaps; one covering the front and the other barely shielding his generous butt. When a gust of wind came the wrong way, his rear was exposed to the elements, but he did not appear to care.

A sword sheathed against his left thigh and a heavy club balancing on the right side completed the imagery of a Moran spoiling for a fight.

His feet were clad in a dirty brown pair of sandals made of buffalo hide, the same one that had availed the raw material for his shield. These protected his feet from pebbles and thorns enabling him to cover long distances in a day as the need arose.

As the gathering awaited the arrival of their new Mzungu neighbour, the Elders were clearly ill at ease; none knew what would happen when the two adversaries met.

The new DC was seated on his white horse wearing his Grey khaki uniform and a metallic helmet ???? hat on his head. His hunting gun was inside its holster that hung behind his saddle for quick retrieval as the need arose.
