Altair is the secret sauce in some of the world's most recognized engineering achievements. They have worked with everyone from NASA to Boeing to Ferrari--and now Artemis Racing, one of the most famous sailing teams on the planet.

But this time, Altair wasn't just helping a client engineer something to be amazing, they were helping them engineer something to win. In this case, that something was the world's fastest sailboat that they hoped would take the trophy at the 2017 America's Cup.

We decided to document their journey with Surface to Air, a documentary that goes inside the competitive world of sailing to find out what it really takes to break a world record—and engineer wings on the water. We divided the full-length documentary into shorts that explored themes of inspiration, secrecy, competition and evolution.

So far, the collective films have gained nearly a million views on Youtube.

During the project, we also coined Altair's new globally-trademarked tagline, Design the Difference™.
