ABOUT

I am creating a series of paintings of endangered species, to raise awareness about alarming rates of extinction, and hopefully to raise money for various conservation charities.

The paintings have a surreal edge, as if the animals have been painted from a dream or a memory.

Here is the third in the series, an Asian elephant. Asian elephants are listed as endangered by the IUCN. Many factors have led to this, for example the ivory trade, habitat destruction and conflicts with local people. Elephants are used as working animals in Asia and are commonly exploited for human entertainment. I met the elephant this painting is based on while volunteering at the WFFT sanctuary in Thailand. She is at least happy now, in her retirement.

Prints of this painting are available to buy, please contact me for details.
