Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to apply for the position of Digital Copywriter as I believe that my skills and experience make me an ideal candidate for this role.

For the past 11 years I have been working as a journalist, most recently editing lifestyle magazines. This has given me the opportunity to immerse myself in the world of fashion and I have an excellent knowledge of the latest trends and brands. It also gave me the opportunity to pursue my interest. During my time at university I worked at a flagship Monsoon store, rising to the position of Junior Manager as soon as I finished my studies. Although I decided that I did not wish to pursue a career on the shop floor it gave me a great understanding of the retail sector.

As a qualified journalist I recognise the importance of accuracy in my work - whether that is factual accuracy or grammatical accuracy and I have great attention to detail. Having written for newspapers, magazines, websites and blogs I understand the need to adapt my writing style for different platforms and audiences and I am able to adjust accordingly.

I also have some experience in PR and marketing having undertaken some freelance work for a Bristol based PR and Marketing company. My work achieved excellent results with coverage in local, national and trade press.

As the primary writer on two magazines it was necessary for me to have a highly organised and logical approach to my work and I have excellent planning abilities. I am comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and I thrive under this pressure. I am able to manage my workload well and prioritise tasks as they arise, and I always meet my deadlines.

I was a driving force behind the launch of the Bath Chronicle Weekend Magazine, and was very involved in not only generating ideas for content, but also for the design. I am accustomed to working with all departments in an organisation to ensure that the products I am working on are successful in all areas. I work well on my own initiative, am comfortable making important decisions and am confident in my own abilities and I also work well as part of a team. I always form excellent relationships within my team and I believe that one of my strengths is giving people the confidence to push themselves to fulfil their potential.

I enjoy meeting new people and regularly represent publications at internal and external events. I am confident at presenting to large groups of people, and also have experience of presenting in a foreign language.

I am bright, enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious and I am constantly seeking to learn new skills and develop professionally.
