About me
A recent museum cultures graduate with a PG/dip from Birkbeck College, University of London, looking to secure a position to use and further develop my analytical skills and knowledge in a practical environment.
Throughout my academic years, I gained the necessary training for conducting studies and searches using databases for analysis. Collected data from records and conducted basic research - participated in team research projects and presented individual research, including library research for essays, in particular the idea of exhibiting a new museology: photography as an unsystematic collection in the mid-18th century.
After working in a fast past environment with a globally leading company in China, educating a class of fifty, I have the initiative, communication skills and the aptitude to work efficiently and successfully with others be it locally or internationally. In particular my capacity to connect with students through teaching simple, as well as more advanced topics, progressing at a great level resulting in a better understanding of what my student's needed can also be applied throughout the work environment.
I already possess an extensive knowledge and practical experience in various related fields such as the day-to-day running of a museum and an 18th-century house. Offering up a comprehensive account on any historic information needed for each visitor as well as giving guided tours around the site - vital in the aim for the long-term sustainability of the building, as well as the preservation of the objects within. Routine enquiries, either by phone or face to face, allowing me to utilize my meticulous attention to detail, and friendly, professional manner towards my peers and the public through our exhibition space and shop.
In other areas of my work I have supported and supervised the work of any new trainee volunteers including the training of interns from Korea, which we received each year.
My skills developed within other current organization's has resulted in an awareness on preservation, and conservation with the aim to ensure that the public can confidently access all materials; one way to ensure that all information and documentation, classified and filed away in a repository, can be attained and used as a source through the relevant programmes and mediums.
The field of photography has always been of interest to me, and influenced me in my choice of degree at university. After graduating I worked as a freelancer which has enabled me to develop my technical skills while developing my ability to quickly absorb a brief, adapt to varying work conditions, work quickly and efficiently, and deliver high quality photographs within tight time frames. I am adept with Photoshop as well as Microsoft and have experience scanning, uploading and editing photographs into company databases and archives. I am known for my attention to detail, and am a fervent and proficient learner.
