About me

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am applying for the MW copywriter role at Red Sofa.

I believe I would be a valuable addition to your team as the articles I have published. I am currently studying for my diploma in journalism with the NCTJ (distance course) and am an established writer with a huge portfolio of writing across different channels. I am used to writing fluent, confident and clear copy.

I graduated in 2008 from Sussex University and gained a 2:1 in English Literature. I currently write features for Media Mag where I turn feature ideas into copy to meet tight deadlines. Plus I contribute to BN1 magazine (a Brighton magazine that appears online and in print), British Style Bloggers, a fashion blog (which I attended - and reviewed shows at - London Fashion week for), Screen Robot and Read Wave. I am used to coming up with original ideas and researching all my own work. A transcript from my blog appeared in a Collins textbook recently (Aiming for Level 4). I've contributed to the Guardian's cine files (see below). I have also included some photocopied examples of my work too.

Examples of my day job can be found at Brighton Holiday Homes/ My Big Fat Brighton/London Weekend (the latter due to launch next month) - I choose the pictures, put the packages together and write the copy for the three websites. I am highly organised and am used to multi-tasking in my current role. Any changes that occur must be changed on the websites immediately including content, photographs and terms and conditions. I also proof- read everything and have a keen eye for detail. We are currently launching a site called 'My Big Night Out' which I have been in charge of and we have plan to launch this in every major UK city. I have also been present on photo shoots for the site.

This job has also given me experience in CMS systems such as WordPress, and Expression Engine. I am also adept at using Photo Shop. I am a quick learner and had to set up both websites on my own plus liaise with suppliers and companies to sign the deals. I am used to multi-tasking and working quickly and efficiently.

I am currently editor of Makerble: a charity/ lifestyle website that is getting started in the next couple of months. Makerble aims to connect potential donors (generation Y) with charities they care about and track where their donation goes through statistics, pictures and videos.
