This is a personal project, inspired by my daughter, Violet.

In 2022 I was hiking in northern NSW, Australia, and came across a large group of native Violets. It was a real pleasure to show my little girl the flower that shares her name. The experience of sharing this discovery with my young daughter brought immense joy. It sparked a beautiful thought – what if all little ones named after botanicals could have a similar experience?

This inspired the creation of Blossom Babes, a heartwarming 28-page board book crafted by me and brought to life through the artistic talents of three incredible illustrators, who also happen to be my good friends. The book is a testament to the idea that the wonders of nature, coupled with the joy of shared reading, can be a universal delight for both parents and little ones.

The featured blossoms in volume one include Dahlia, Daisy, Holly, Ivy, Jasmine, Lily, Poppy, Rose, Violet, and Willow.

Brand Inspiration:
The brand draws inspiration from the captivating world of flowers, seamlessly intertwined with the distinctive letter B. Each petal and curve has been crafted to convey a sense of organic beauty, symbolising the blossoming of ideas and the flourishing potential within every little blossom. I opted for an earthy colour palette, featuring natural tones of cream and green.

The heading font is a fitting touch, Dahlia by VJ Type.

Solution:
I created the brand, crafted the copy, and meticulously designed the entire book. I then collaborated with three talented illustrators to bring the enchanting world of flowers to life.

Results:
The combination of educational content and engaging illustrations makes Blossom Babes a delightful book for introducing the wonders of nature to young minds.

The book launched in February 2024, with a Squarespace-designed website and merchandise. Talks are currently underway for the book to be sold through local independent bookstores from March 2024.

Blossom Babes acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, work and trade. We acknowledge their ongoing connection and custodianship for Country and pay our respect to the elders past, present and emerging.
