ABOUT
These animations were created using frame by frame rostrum animation, hand painted in ink on acetone.
The Barbican Box Project 2019, I produced a series of seven second films along with 15 other animators who did the same. A selection of school from London produced orchestral music alongside the same written criteria as us.
A live orchestral performance in the Barbican Centre was performed by the children, alongside a 'VJ'. The VJ mixed our animations live in front of the audience, in accordance to the music.
The Barbican Box project happens every year and is designed to encourage multi-dimensional arts across schools, colleges and universities.
The Barbican writes: "Barbican Box launched in 2011 as a theatre education programme for secondary schools and FE colleges in east London. Today, Barbican Box works across art forms, including music, theatre, poetry and visual art, and across 40 primary, secondary, SEN schools and FE colleges in east London, with a national development programme in Manchester, Harlow and Norfolk."
