Emilie Victoria Åsgård-Rasmussen Dancer and Choreographer

ABOUT

A choreography I made for LIPA's Choreography Competition 2023.

This choreography is about freedom of speech and symbolises how people in many countries around the world have lost their human right to free speech and even get punished if they do dare to speak out against their brutal leaders. We might take it for granted that we can speak our mind whenever we want to, have the right to vote, to speak up if we disagree with the government and can take part in strikes and demonstrations, but despite the fact that the right to free speech is recognized by all the countries in the world, people are still getting punished, persecuted or even killed just for speaking their mind. This choreography is made to help raise awareness about this and to show that we never should take our freedom of speech for granted, but dare to use it, stay together and always dare to speak our minds.
