Studying for my master's degree in English Literature has allowed me to hone both my researching and proof reading skills in an environment driven by deadlines. Due to regular deadlines, I have improved both my organisational skills and multi-tasking abilities to ensure I maximise my productivity to such an extent I feel I work best under pressure.
Outside of academia, through my experience of working as part of editorial teams in both online and office environments, not only have I gained a greater understanding of the importance of team cohesion in the workplace but my own writing has improved significantly. From my experience writing copy in a content driven environment, I have developed the skill to write clearly and concisely at a fast pace. Furthermore, I have learned directly the value of thorough research when working on stories or projects.
Due to my experience in the workplace and self-directed projects, I have developed a greater understanding of the shifts in the consumption of written content in the digital age and the importance of social media as an essential avenue for promotion. My experience in academia, self-directed projects and in the workplace have prepared me well to become a member of the team.
